The guide to easing PFT

The PFT Guide

Welcome to Sydney Airport’s guide to easing PFT.  As you probably know, PFT, or Pre-Flight Tension, can make travel less enjoyable than it should be.  So to help minimise the symptoms of PFT we have completed a major upgrade of our International Terminal Departures Level and included an array of new shops, cafes, bars and restaurants so there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.

COMMON PFT SYMPTOMS

Recently, we conducted a survey of 300 travellers about the effects of PFT.
Here are some of the results:

  • 28% said they experienced anxiety before boarding their flight. Of those, 1 in 5 started feeling anxious up to an entire week before their flight.
  • 38% packed and re-packed their bags 2-3 times.
  • More than half of all people surveyed checked the time of their flight 2-3 times, while 35% checked their passport 2-3 times before flying.
  • 13% said they displayed, what we call, "Obsessive Passport Disorder" (O.P.D) when they arrived at the airport.
  • The most common symptoms experienced by both men and women when they are flying are O.P.D. and perspiring more than usual.
